10 Questions We Hear Before Every Custom Challenge Coin Order (Answered Honestly)

Every custom coin project starts with questions. That’s a good thing — it means you’re paying attention to the details. We’ve answered these same ten questions hundreds of times, so we’re putting them all in one place.

1. Can your art team redraw or refine rough AI concept art into a clean production proof?

Yes. AI-generated artwork makes a great starting point, but it almost always needs to be rebuilt from scratch to meet manufacturing requirements. Our in-house artists will take your concept and redraw it with clean lines, proper depth, and production-ready detail — while staying true to your original vision. You bring the idea. We make it manufacturable.

2. Can you work from reference photos?

Absolutely. Send us everything you have — reference photos, official logos, uniform images, whatever gives us the clearest picture. The more reference material you provide, the more accurate our artists can be. Facial likeness and official insignia require that kind of detail, and we take it seriously. More references mean a better first proof.

3. Can we provide a marked-up correction sheet showing exactly what to keep, remove, and adjust?

Please do. A marked-up correction sheet is one of the most useful things a customer can send us. It removes guesswork and lets our artists implement your changes precisely. Mark up the proof directly, write it out in a document, or just explain it clearly in an email — whatever format works best for you. We’ll work from it.

4. Do you offer unlimited revisions before production?

We do. Nothing goes to production until you’re completely satisfied with the proof. If something isn’t right, reply with your changes and we’ll keep refining it. There’s no limit on revision rounds and no pressure to approve something you’re not happy with.

5. Can you make a custom arched chapel-window shape at approximately 3 inches?

Yes. Custom die shapes are one of our specialties, and an arched chapel-window silhouette at 3 inches is well within what we do. One thing to know: coins over 2.5 inches carry a mold fee regardless of quantity. We’ll include the full breakdown in your quote so there are no surprises.

6. Can you achieve a stained-glass look using solid enamel instead of actual see-through glass?

Yes — and it looks great. We can replicate the stained-glass aesthetic using opaque soft or hard enamel colors separated by raised metal lines. The result reads exactly like stained glass without requiring any translucent material. If you want to take it a step further, we also offer translucent enamel colors that allow light to pass through, which adds another layer of depth to that effect. We can show you both options in the proof so you can choose what works best for your design.

7. Can you make 200 coins for $1,000 or better?

It depends on size and complexity. At 3 inches with a custom die shape, a 200-coin order will likely land above $1,000 once the mold fee is included. That said, pricing is built around three dials — quantity, size, and complexity — and we can turn any one of them to help you hit your budget. Share the full design details and we’ll build you an accurate quote, then talk through the options honestly.

8. Can each coin be individually numbered in a small but legible way, on the edge or back?

Yes. Sequential numbering is a standard add-on at $0.25 per coin, and it’s applied in a clean, legible format. It’s typically placed on the back face of the coin. If you specifically want edge numbering, edge engraving is available as well — we can walk you through both options and show you what each looks like before you decide.

9. Are you American-based, and where are the coins manufactured?

We’re a Texas-based, family-owned company. All customer service, sales, artwork, and project management is handled right here in Texas. Like virtually everyone in the custom coin industry, our coins are manufactured overseas — that’s what makes it possible to deliver the level of quality and detail we offer at competitive pricing. From your first inquiry to final delivery, you’re always working directly with our Texas team.

10. What file formats do you accept?

We can work from just about anything — PDF, PNG, JPG, AI, SVG, PSD, hand-drawn sketches, or even a photo of a napkin. If you have a high-resolution vector file, great. If all you have is a rough sketch or a low-res reference, that works too. Our art team redraws every design from scratch anyway. The goal at this stage is simply to give our artists the clearest possible picture of what you’re envisioning. Send us your best reference material — logos, photos, inspiration images, written descriptions — and we’ll take it from there. Ready to start your project?
